Sign-up Mentoring scheme 2024

Welcome to the MCLS Mentoring scheme, an initiative designed to provide support to everyone from the MCLS community. We believe that mentoring offers tremendous benefits to both mentees and mentors by sharing knowledge, promoting international networks, and enhancing skill development.

We aim to have as many mentors and mentees as possible to allow us to match individuals one-on-one based on expectations and research interests. Whether you are an early career researcher seeking guidance or a more senior academic looking to share your expertise or learn new skills, this scheme has a place for you. You can be a mentee, a mentor, or a buddy. Peer-mentorship is a valuable way to receive the support you may be seeking.

The possible roles:

Mentor: if you are looking for more experience in mentoring, to share your knowledge, build an international network or learn specific new skills, etc.

Mentee: if you are looking for more guidance, tips and tricks on academic life, knowledge in your research area, build an international network, develop your career, or learn new skills, etc.

Buddy: if you are looking to share ups and downs from your academic life or research experiences, share knowledge, build an international network, or learn new skills, etc.

We will organise an optional networking event on the 1st of December at 10am EST/3pm BST to get to know everyone involved in the scheme. This will be done to build connections and allow you to explore your expectations for the mentoring scheme. You might come across some people who you would like to be matched with. This event is not required to sign-up to the mentoring scheme.

We encourage you to think about each question and indicate your expectations and desires so that we can match you as best as possible. We can not garuantee a perfect match based on your responses as this depends on the members joining the scheme.

You are able to sign-up until the 11th of December!
