How will we select among applicants?
The fellowship is aimed at people who:
- are excited about doing good with their career, and are willing to put time and thoughts into pondering on the best ways of making a positive impact
- are concerned about the welfare of people and beings beyond their immediate circles of family and friends
- are open to changing their mind and willing to consider alternative points of view – particularly on the question of which cause areas are the most effective
- are willing to engage seriously with new arguments and perspectives

The following questions are designed to help us decide which applicants would be the best fit for the fellowship. Please be honest and thoughtful - but don't spend too long on them! There are rough word limits for each question. We select applicants mainly based on clarity thoughts and strength of arguments. You can use either Chinese or English.

Worldview #1
The decision of which cause to work on is a matter of personal preference - whether you should focus on education, climate change, or the arts should be decided by which cause you are most passionate about.

Worldview #2
Suppose that you have the choice between a summer placement at two non-profit organisations. The first is close to your heart: providing disadvantaged children in your local community with access to free music lessons. The second is further from your existing interests: helping with the logistics for a mosquito bednet distribution programme that could prevent dozens of additional cases of malaria with your work. It seems like even if you had a personal attachment to the first cause, you wouldn't have sufficient reason to focus on it rather than the anti-malaria bednets. So the decision of which cause to work on should not be determined by what you are most passionate about.

How might we square the two worldviews described above? Does one seem more appealing, or might they fit together in some cohesive way? (~300words)
Is there anything else you would like to tell us? (optional)
